Balthazar Zin
Biography
Balthazar Zin (1998, Lausanne CH) lives and work in Lausanne. Balthazar works primarily with sculpture and installation, through which he explores a deep fascination with history. Escaping the present by displacing it through time, his practice weaves together archaeology and science fiction, memory and anticipation. His sculptures depict imaginary objects and situations that drift from the present toward other eras; artifacts of a time that never was, or perhaps is yet to come.
2023-2026: Master’s degree in fine arts (contemporary arts practice) at HKB, Bern.
2020-2023: Bachelor’s degree in fine arts at HEAD, Geneva

Ruines Lausannoises

In Lausanne as elsewhere, the traces of history accumulate endlessly, forming an infinite layering of ruins. From the erosion of sedimentary rock to the imaginary ruins of the Federal Tribunal, it is through its debris that the city reveals itself. The present does not exist; it is caught between archaeological remains and the promise of ruins yet to come
